We collect key data about keywords they are targeting, sites that link to them (inbound links), link texts used, linking sites PR (page rank) and topicality. Note that the competitor analysis is made separately for each keyword phrase for top 1-10 for each keyword on the search engines. The link report is never complete as the search engines do not display all links they actually have in their records. In general this gives however a very good insight on the keyword and search engine strategies your competitors are using.
