Seo Tools - Search Engine Optimisation Tools
SEO Tools - a selection of Search Engine Optimisation tools that we use daily or have tested and found good. We use a wide arrange of tools. Search Engine Optimisation can well be made without specific search engine optimisation software - however professional SEO tools provide some clear benefits - they speed up the analytic phase. We list a number of tools here - some free some paid, some that you might like to purchase yourself.
Tools for selection of keywords are esential, and the more keywords or search queries you target with your site - the more SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) and competitor web sites you will need to review. We use to review at least the Top 10 competing websites for each keyword query.
Keyword Tools
Here a selection of most common keyword tools. There are several good keyword tools on the market. We use a combination of keyword tools. Not all listed here.
Google AdWords - One of the best keyword tools from the leading search engine.
Yahoo Search Marketing - Keyword selection tool
WordTracker - a famous keyword selection tool - uses MetaSearch engine databases.
Search Engine Optimisation Software
Search Engine Optimisation tools. Here 3 commercial softwares that we recommend - we have at some stage used some or all of them. We use currently two of these. We present them here in alphabetical order.
IBP / Arelis - SEO Elite - WebTrends
There are some free SEO tools on the market also - or advertised as free ones but usually with limited functionality unless you pay for updates. The same applies also to the tools above.
Submission Software
We do NOT recommend to use any fully-automatic submission tools - you are likely to submit to many FFA (Free For All) sites - and receive loads of spam mail. Also the search engines can penalize and exclude your site completely if you have links from unrelated sites. In particular one of the leading search engines has introduced a very strict policy on this (Live former MSN Search). You might quickly regret that one extra link! Yes even one unrelated link has on our test sites got sites kicked out from this search engine. We think this development is sad - as Live was at one stage (aalthough just a few moinths) in our opinion clearly providing the most relevant results - now some not to say most very high quality sites have been kicked out. If you decide to focus only on Google you might not care if Live (former MSN Search) does not list you. However, In some countries Live has however a quite good market share - is it worth of wasting it?
If your site is new we suggest you only link and/or submit to relevant and related pages. It is the quality of the links that should count - not the quantity.
Site analysis tools
Both Google and Yahoo provide excellent site analysis tools. Google requires that you signe up for a Google Account. Yahoo that you sign up for Yahoo. Until recently Yahoo Site Explorer was without doubt the best free tool available. Google's new webmaster tool is perhaps even better. You can analyse not only your own site but also your competitors with Yahoo Site Explorer - so make sure you take a look at it.
Disclaimer: We cannot guarantee you will like, find any of the above tools useful or worth the cost or time of its use. We have used the tools above and recommend them for English language sites.
